Background
Anežka Přemyslovna (1269–1296) was a Czech princess, daughter of King Přemysl Otakar II and Kunhuta of Hungary. She was married to Rudolf II of Swabia, linking the Přemyslid and Habsburg dynasties during a politically tense period. Her life was marked by imprisonment, escape, and early death—possibly from tuberculosis, a disease common in her royal lineage. She gave birth to a son, Jan, who later assassinated his uncle, the Roman King Albrecht I, over inheritance disputes. Anežka was buried in the Anežský klášter in Prague, with her heart interred separately at Zbraslav.
