...Little by little, Aivars learned how to hold tools more correctly, how to evaluate stones, how to think over every nuance of the future work. He founded his stonemason company SIA "Aivars - K" in 1995. It was engaged in the manufacture of tombstones, plaques and grave borders. When the company was well established, the stonemason began to feel more and more creative restlessness and turned his attention to Latvia's unique boulders. The master traveled around Latvia and looked for interestingly shaped boulders with an ax. When he found it, he talked to it, trying to remember the images that the stones hide in themselves. Well, a stonemason only needs to take one look at a stone to feel what it will be best to transform into. "I prefer boulders that are almost ready-made and that only need to be hammered a little. Other old men drive around and flirt with young girls, but I look at the stones and talk to them," says Aivars with a smile.
