Apple Valley Hillbilly Garden and Toyland
Roadside attraction draws its inspiration from other roadside attractions. Hee Haw-inspired folk art, and a crazy mini-world with 3,000 toys and six running trains.
A really cool, but a bit run down outsider art environment built on an old apple orchard.
The grandson of the original owner planned to setup a toy museum and rebuild the tiny gas-station, but he had to change plans when the county planned to build a subdivision on his grandparent's homestead. If I remember right, an outdoor attraction was protected, just a museum was not?
Anyway, the toy museum is a shed filled to the brim with iconic American toys and figurines, the surrounding area is full of punny sculptures and objects and great fun to explore it.
Especially for folk art enthusiasts it's funny to see the recreation of Rock City and Salvation Mountain.
